Age Appropriate Furniture for Toddlers

If you are a day care provider for multiple toddlers, you will need to have your facility equipped with furniture that fits their needs. Toddlers are very active and will get into anything they can reach. Keep this in mind when furnishing the rooms they will occupy. Low desks or tables with small chairs will be needed for crafts, school work and eating lunch (if your facility does not have a cafeteria.) It is also imperative that your toddler classroom have a cabinet that locks to keep items away from young children that could harm or injure them. Any sharp instruments such as scissors, hole punches or paper shredders should be locked away. Any type of cleaning supplies such as bleach, ammonia, soap and cleaners must be kept away from little children, as they can be extremely harmful if ingested or even spilled on hands or faces. Furniture to store toys and supplies are also nice to have when caring for toddlers. Large bins with snap on lids are good for storing toys. A filing cabinet that locks is good for keeping paper, records and even small treats and rewards.
